Favs of the Week

I’ll just share some of the favs of the week:
A few weeks ago, we had one day where we literally had no appointments. We had no plans, and we decided we would just leave the house with English flyers, and then talk to everyone we passed. We started out and within the first hour, we had talked to a few people, but not with a lot of success. Then we were putting up an English flyer and we saw this older man walking towards us. We said, “hello” and started talking. We ended up talking for almost 15 minutes. We explained our purpose and our message. He listened and opened up about how he has been struggling lately with big trials, and how he had recently had the thought he needed to go back to church. He explained he had attended another church a while back, but because of bad choices he didn’t know if he could go back to church or find the happiness he found in church before. It was an awesome experience to be able to look him in the eyes and bear a strong testimony of the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It does not matter where we have gone, or what we have done, through His atoning sacrifice, we can always find our way back, be cleaned and become freed from the past. He listened closely and accepted our invitation to meet again!
Then, this week we had the opportunity to meet him again with our favorite member (jk I love all the members). It was an awesome lesson! We opened up the scriptures and taught him about baptism and the cleansing renewing power it can bring into our lives. We promised him the blessings of living according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we invited him to learn more. He expressed how grateful he was to have met us and how he would  be willing to meet with us again. IT WAS SUCH AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE! Probably a first on my mission. . . and for sure a highlight of the transfer/year.

Another experience we had this week was with our investigator with a baptismal date! We met her again during church on Sunday. We shared with her the Plan of Salvation and at the end of the lesson, she accepted our invitation to pray on her own every day to feel Heavenly Father’s love for her. Then we invited her to pray at the end of the lesson, and she prayed for the first time and asked for help to know more about God. I love being able to work with her, she is so cute and reminds me so much of myself when I was in high school. Every time we meet I just think, “THIS WILL BLESS HER SO MUCH” because I know the only way I got through the struggles of high school was because I had my Savior’s help. Because testing is done, we are planning on meeting her this week and hoping that she can continue to prepare to be baptized next month! WE LOVE HER!
Overall, this transfer has been the best transfer for me. I have struggled the most, but I have grown the most. We have had multiple days in a row, with absolutely nothing to do but walk and talk to people. But, I have seen the biggest miracles in meeting Heavenly Father’s prepared children on the streets of my area. I loved this transfer, I love my area, and I love my companion! We couldn’t be happier.
