My favorite experience this week was following church on Sunday! We didn’t have any appointments, and we had no idea of what to do. Our plan in the morning was to ask every member that walked in the door, if they knew of anyone we could serve that day! All of the members said they didn’t think they knew anyone. But we decided to eat our lunch at the church, and on our way out, we saw one more member! We opened up with her about our goal to find three new investigators that day, and how we had no plans, but we knew Heavenly Father would help find them! We asked her if she knew anyone that we could visit, serve, meet, or share the gospel with. She at first didn’t have any ideas, so we left, and honestly, I felt a little discouraged because I knew we had no appointments and nobody to visit.
But after we left, she came running after us and said, “How can we find these 3 people today? What can I do to help?” I honestly was so grateful for her, I wanted to cry!!! We said “Well, we don’t know. Let’s pray!” Then we said a prayer outside the church. We prayed to be lead and we prayed to be humble enough to follow the Spirit. and just started walking! We decided we would just go start knocking on the all the doors we pass by the church! I have done “door knocking” on my mission before, but honestly, it has never been successful! But our member said to just walk on the street and start opening our mouth! So we did! And for the first time on my mission, while “door knocking” we were able to give a Book of Mormon, share a five minute message of the Restoration, invite someone to church, receive their phone number, and a “yes” to–can we come back at a later time! We also were able to sit with an older couple and sing them church hymns and bear testimony of the Resurrection to them! Having that sister there was literally the biggest blessing of the week! She taught me that you can still serve happily and still share the gospel even when it seems like you literally have nothing to do. She’s the biggest example of Christlike love and service. She reminds me a lot of my older sisters, Jocelynn and Jillian. I’m so grateful for her.
Fun story of the week: WE MOVED AND OUR HOUSE IS LIT THE NICEST HOUSE I HAVE EVER LIVED IN–LITERALLY WE ARE SO BLESSED AND IT EVEN HAS AIR CONDITIONING I WANTED TO CRY WHEN I FIRST WALKED INTO THE HOUSE!!!!
